Southern University continues its “Colossal: A Centennial Celebration on The Bluff,” which will culminate with its homecoming parade and game on Saturday, Oct. 4.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the 84th Miss Southern University will be coronated at “The Queen of Hearts: The Crowning of the Centennial Miss Southern University.” The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Formal attire is required. The event is free and open to the public.

A homecoming concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center. The event is free for all SU students with a valid ID card and $40 for those 18 and older, with a valid ID card. Tickets can be purchased at the SU ticket office, (225) 771-3171, or

At noon on Friday, Oct. 3, a pep rally for all SU alumni and current students will be held in the student union courtyard, and include an old school Greek stroll off and more.

That night at 8, SU’s College of Business presents Gala on The Bluff featuring Tony! Toni! Tone! At the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino. Admission is $75. Visit for more information and tickets.

Saturday, Oct. 4, is Homecoming, and the festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with the Homecoming Parade & Showcase of Bands, beginning on Harding Boulevard. The grand marshal will be SU alum and NFL Hall-of-Famer Aeneas Williams. At 5:30 p.m., the Southern Jaguars take on the Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions in A.W. Mumford Stadium. Pregame festivities start at 4:45 p.m.
