It may temporarily make you feel better, but whipping up a Bloody Mary as a post-Mardi Gras hangover will only make you feel worse in the long run, says the Mayo Clinic (let’s not talk about what it might do to any Lenten promises).
While there’s no sure-fire cure, here’s three ways to combat a hangover:
Grab a bottle of water or fruit juice to battle dehydration.
Hungry? Go for bland foods, like plain toast or saltines, and try clear soups to replace lost salt and potassium.
Use regular doses of over-the-counter pain relievers to stop that pounding head, but remember that aspirin can irritate your stomach.
And, if you just can’t pull it together, the clinic recommends tried-and-true sleep. Time cures all things, including hangovers.
