HELP A CHILD IN NEED, Capital Area CASA Association — (225) 379-8598, email email@example.com or visit casabr.org: The nonprofit organization recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children living in foster care to help them reach safe, permanent homes. CASA urgently needs volunteers to continue providing a voice for every child who needs one. No special background required. Volunteers must be 21 years old. The first step to getting involved is to attend a brief orientation at the CASA office.
LIFEGUARD NEEDED, The Arc-Iberville — (225) 687-4062: The mission of the agency is to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their lives in their community, to the best of their abilities and in accordance with their desires. A volunteer is needed as a life guard on May 22 for a visit to a water park. Volunteers are welcome to provide assistance in the water/spray areas.
PARENT RESOURCE CENTER NEEDS ASSISTANCE, The Emerge Center — (225) 343-4232: The center fills the gap in local therapeutic programs and makes sure services are accessible to all in our community, regardless of financial background.
As a nonprofit center, it serves those with limited resources. A compassionate, knowledgeable volunteer is needed to help out with the parent resource center. Hours and duties are flexible.
DIRECT CARE VOLUNTEER, the Hospice of Baton Rouge — (225) 767-4673: Make a difference in the lives of hospice patients by helping them to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Direct Patient Care Volunteers provide companionship for patients, and respite for their caregivers. Volunteers play cards with patients, read to them or just visit and provide someone to talk with. The volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the quality of care delivered to patients and families.
