The Friends of LPB calls Art Rocks a celebration for art lovers of all ages.

The Friday night event officially opens Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s 2015 LPB Art & Travel Auction, and runs from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the network’s studios at 7733 Perkins Road.

More than 150 Louisiana artists have donated 200-plus pieces for the annual fundraiser, which also includes food, spirits, and live music by the JGray Jazz Trio. The party is free and open to the public.

Art Rocks visitors will be the first to view the art in person, and can join in the online bidding or use a “buy it now” option, which offers prices 20 percent below retail value.

Also being auctioned are various Louisiana travel packages, such as a trip to the Natchitoches Christmas Festival, a golf stay at Cypress Bend Resort, a Lafayette VIP experience, or a romantic stay at the Parc England Hotel in Alexandria with dinner for two.

Online bidding continues through Oct. 22, with the art on exhibit at LPB through Oct. 16. Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s Art & Travel Auction will be televised live at 7 p.m. Oct. 22.

The funds raised will be used to purchase educational and entertaining programming for LPB.
