Meet the Krewe de Crown, a group of bloggers and social media experts who also know a thing or two about sashes, bouquets and tiaras — and what it takes to win Miss USA.

Fifty-one contestants will vie for that title at the Miss USA pageant, set for July 12 at the River Center in Baton Rouge.

In addition to our pageant coverage on The Advocate’s news pages and website, we’ll be delivering even more stories, videos and pictures on our Krewe de Crown blog, created in partnership with Visit Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Social Media Association.

Krewe members will be chasing behind-the-scenes stories — contestants’ special talents, personal journeys and motivators in reaching for the crown. The Krewe will also cover the pre-pageant festivities, break down the rules of the contest, toss out some trivia and history and introduce the people who make the magic happen — hair and makeup.

The excitement will culminate with the big event, and the Krewe will be at pageant central to report on the celebrity guests, judges and performers; the big dance numbers; the sparkly dresses; the glamour and the glitz.
