Auditions are set this weekend for two area productions.

New Venture Theatre’s auditions for its upcoming dancing production, “Love Whitney,” will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hartley/Vey Workshop Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St.

Performed only through dance, “Love Whitney” is a celebration of Whitney Houston. The show catalogues her career while expressing the themes behind her music and story. The show was conceived by Greg Williams Jr. and is choreographed by Jeoffery Harris Jr.

Performances will be Nov. 6-8 in the Hartley/Vey Theatre at The Manship.

Also, Theatre Baton Rouge has set auditions for its upcoming production of “A Christmas Carol” for Saturday and Sunday. Young actors’ auditions will be 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and adult auditions will be 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. All auditions are by appointment only at the theater, 7155 Florida Blvd.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Young actors also will be asked to sing “The First Noel.” Scripts are available for checkout at the box office for a $20 refundable deposit.

The play is directed by Kurt Hauschild and Jack Lampert and will run Dec. 12- 21.
