Come Friday morning, the Capital City restaurant scene will have some New Orleans flavor.
District Donuts.Sliders.Brew will open its first Baton Rouge location on Friday, May 19 with limited hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Normal business hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily will start Saturday, May 20.
District is located at 7415 Corporate Blvd., Suite 900, in Towne Center in the space formerly occupied by Starbucks Coffee. It is the third location for the New Orleans restaurant. In March, District expanded into Jefferson Parish.
The shop specializes in unique donuts with flavors like beignet, peanut butter and jelly, white chocolate mocha, mimosa, and a dirt cake donut which comes with cookie crumbles and gummy worms. The shop also offers traditional staples like glazed, cinnamon sugar and chocolate glazed. Customers can expect kolaches and biscuits as well.
In an interview last November, District co-owner Aaron Vogel said the Baton Rouge shop will offer 10 donut flavors, seven of which will be rotated daily. Customers can also expect sliders, several craft beers, and a specialty coffee program featuring nitro cold brew, Vietnamese iced coffee and traditional espresso drinks.
The Baton Rouge location is slightly bigger than the original District location at 2209 Magazine St. in New Orleans, which Vogel, Chris Audler and Stephen Cali opened in 2013.
