Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash, winemakers and owners of Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in Newberg, Oregon, are pouring six of their wines at a special wine dinner at Juban’s (3739 Perkins Road in Baton Rouge) on Monday, April 25.
The dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. with a reception featuring Toulouse Sausage toast point, Creole gherkin, Cambazola Mousse Tart and Smoked Pork Loin Croustade with green apple relish paired with Penner-Ash’s 2014 Willamette Valley Reisling.
The dinner, prepared under the watchful eye of chef Joey Daigle, begins with a Crispy Speck Salad featuring endive, apple and walnuts topped with a creamy tarragon dressing. It’s paired with the 2013 Viognier, which was recently served at a White House State Dinner.
That’s followed by the Seared Sea Scallop with silted spinach and buerre rouge paired with the 2013 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir; Confit of Duck Leg with roasted mushrooms, rainbow chard and house-made pappardelle paired with the 2013 Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir; and Peppercorn-Crusted Lamb Chop with blackberry Pinot noir reduction, toasted hazelnut arugula pesto and braised baby carrots paired with the 2013 Syrah.
For dessert, there’s Chocolate Panna Cotta with cherry gel and cola foam paired with the 2013 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir.
