Steven Melock is the new assistant director of food and beverage at Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville. His appointment is the third in Paragon’s food and beverage department in recent weeks, following the hiring of Executive Chef James A. Shields and Director of Food and Beverage Scott W. Clark.

Melock most recently was a restaurant and bar manager at Doubletree by Hilton in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to that, he worked at resort properties in Robinsonville (Tunica), Mississippi, holding managerial positions at Caesars Entertainment, MGM International Resorts and Resorts International.

A Taste of NOCCA

Restaurants across New Orleans will celebrate the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts’ 40th birthday on April 29 with “A Taste of NOCCA,” donating a portion of their profits to fund programs at the tuition-free arts conservatory for high school students.

Participating businesses include Barrel Proof, The Boxcar, Chef Ron’s Gumbo Stop, Eat, Emeril’s Delmonico, Emeril’s New Orleans, The Foundation Room at House of Blues, Horn’s, Meauxbar, NOLA Restaurant, Press Street Station, Slim Goodies, Sylvain, Taceaux Loceaux and Vacherie.

Proceeds raised from “A Taste of NOCCA” will fund a number of programs overseen by NOCCA’s nonprofit partner, The NOCCA Institute. For example, the funds will help pay for equipment and supplies and send students to summer programs and university auditions across the country.
