Savvy shoppers found everything purple and gold or blue and gold in one spot the weekend before kickoff, thanks to the recently formed Baton Rouge Fashion Council.

The debut Fall Fashion Fest took over the grounds of Tin Roof Brewing Co. in true tailgating style, with some 40 area boutiques and designers showcasing their wares.

The highlights of the event were the three style shows. Models sported the latest game day looks right down to their lipstick — Kismet’s “Hey Baby,” which was developed especially for the LSU Golden Girls by Covington resident Caitlin Picou.

“Baton Rouge has a small fashion scene that’s growing,” said council founder and President Leslie Presnell. “I write a fashion blog and I’d mention local boutiques and a lot of people didn’t know they existed. This is a way to make the public aware of what’s out there.”

Participating vendors (some brick-and-mortar, some online) included Annie Claire Designs, April Mae, Baton Rouge Bandz, Belles & Beauxs, Chloe Isabel, Confetti, Crave, The Garage, Girly Cute Boutique, Hands Producing Hope, Hemline, Hudson 1895, JuJu’s Boutique, Kat Noel Designs, KP Designs, Naked Nails, Savannah Jane, Sosis, Southern Football T-shirts, Southern Sensations, Stella & Dot, Teddy Bandz 94, Tiger People Clothiers and Whitney Gaspard Jewelry.
