Perhaps one of the best new restaurants in Lafayette, Pop’s Poboys is kicking it up a notch this weekend.

The restaurant and bar located at 740 Jefferson St. will host a grilled cheese showdown. Wait, no, it’s more epic than that. The event is actually dubbed the “Lord of the Cheese: Grilled Cheese Throwdown.” My apologies.

Lafayette chefs Jeremy Connor of Cellar Salt and Humble Fish pop-up dinners and Ryan Trahan of Dark Roux will challenge Pop’s Poboys chef Rob Sandberg for the title of best grilled cheese. If you’re a fan of bread or cheese or any possible sandwich combination, you might not want to miss this event.
