Beer-lovers take note: New downtown Baton Rouge event promises a chance to sample 100 beers _lowres

The inaugural Cap City Beer Fest, set for Saturday in downtown Baton Rouge, will get an earlier start than planned after the LSU-South Carolina football game was moved to Baton Rouge for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.

The Beer Fest, originally set for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., will now take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at North Boulevard Town Square.

Louisiana breweries such as Tin Roof, Great Raft and Gnarly Barley will be on hand as well as food from Galatoire’s Bistro, Mestizo, Reed’s Cakes and Catering and The State Bar & Grub. Tickets are $40. The event benefits the Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge. For more information, visit capcitybeerfest.org.
