The inaugural “Farm to Table Chefs Taste Challenge” will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The competition is aimed at broadening awareness for the use of fresh, healthy and sustainable ingredients in preparing food.

This event also will provide a platform to highlight some of the best farm-to-table chefs from across the country.

Ten chefs from around the country have been selected to prepare a dinner entrée tasting course for all those in attendance.

The competition will be judged by five representatives from the culinary industry who, along with event attendees, will be asked to vote for their favorite dishes.

The judges will be looking for the best dish to incorporate fresh farm-to-table ingredients and will judge on taste, creativity and presentation.

The chefs will select their ingredients from a list of items that are fresh and seasonal in areas nationwide. The top two winning chefs (as voted by the panel of judges) will receive awards along with a “fan favorite” winner as selected by the audience.

Funds raised will support the Farm to Table International Conference and SoFab Institute/Southern Food and Beverage Museum.
