Last fall, I attended New York Fashion Week to see firsthand what was coming down the runway for spring. Now let's chat about it.
For the past few seasons, ruffles have been big, and they're not going anywhere this year. In fact, they are stronger than ever. Think ruffled dresses, skirts, tops and sweaters.
Personally, I like the ruffle trend. A few ruffles can turn a simple blouse into a statement piece. Ruffles can elevate a humble T-shirt into a strong date-night look. So if you've bought into this trend over the last few seasons, you're going to get your money’s worth out those purchases.
Pastels are another big trend for spring. Light blue, pink, yellow and lavender — basically Easter egg colors — were all over the runways.
These colors are delicate, but that doesn't mean they can't create strong looks. I love a pastel paired with a bold color. A saucy red pant with a pastel pink sweater is a favorite combo in my closet.
There's something about spring that seems to bring out geometrics — stripes and checks were everywhere. From bright gingham prints to the classic heritage check to stripes narrow and wide, these patterns played across all the soft tones of spring.
Any of these trends are sure to refresh your closet for a new season.
