The Mardi Gras season is in full swing. Here are the parades and events in the Baton Rouge area you can't miss.
Krewe of Mutts. The 18th annual event will take place in downtown Baton Rouge and is perfect for pets. This year's theme is "All paws on deck — Louisiana strong." Bark in the Park runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The parade rolls at 2 p.m. An "after-pawty" runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit caaws.org.
Mardi Gras Festival Pre-Party. At Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room, 2733 North St. 6 p.m. to midnight. $25 envelope fundraiser. Featuring music from Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars and many more. VIP tickets available. Louisiana buffet included with admission.
Krewe of Southdowns. 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Southdowns neighborhood. Celebrating its 30th year, rolling rain or shine. This year's theme is Magical Mystery Tour. Children and pets are welcome. For more information, visit southdowns.org.
Spanish Town Parade. Noon to 4 p.m. Starting at Spanish Town Road. This year's theme is "Come Hell or High Water, It's Slippery When Wet." For more information, visit spanishtownmardigras.com.
Fourth Annual Mardi Gras Festival. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The family-friendly free event includes music and takes place at North Boulevard Town Square.
Sixth annual Krewe of Tickfaw Mardi Gras Boat Parade. 2 p.m. on the Tickfaw River. For more information, visit facebook.com/tickfawmardigras.
Krewe of Comogo Mardi Gras Parade. 7 p.m. La. 1 in Plaquemine. The west side's only nighttime parade. For more information, visit kreweofcomogo.org.
