In tribute to former U.S. Rep. Lindy Boggs, who died Saturday at 97, Louisiana Public Broadcasting will air “Lindy Boggs: Steel & Velvet” at 9 p.m. Monday and 7 p.m. Thursday on LPB-HD (cable Channel 1012).

The program chronicles the life of Boggs, who also became the first woman to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See in Vatican City. During her tenure, Boggs spearheaded legislation on everything from civil rights to equal pay for women. She also helped to establish the Women’s Congressional Caucus. She still holds the distinction of being the only woman with a room named for her in the U.S. Capitol Building.
