A powerhouse singer and a bevy of blues musicians are set to headline the 2018 Baton Rouge Blues Festival.
Festival performers this year include Mavis Staples, Kenny Neal & the Neal Family Band, The James Hunter Six, Samantha Fish, Chris Thomas King, Lazy Lester, Marcia Ball, The Subdudes, Tyree Neal, and Cowboy Stew Blues Review featuring Lil Buck Sinegal, C.C. Adcock, Steve Riley, Curley Taylor and Lee Allen Zeno.

Staples released her sixteenth studio album, "If All I Was Was Black," in 2017. The soulful singer has been performing for eight decades, and has shared the stage with artists such as Bob Dylan, Booker T., Ray Charles, and The Band. Her songs have been performed by notable musicians such as Prince, Nick Cave and Neko Case.
The Baton Rouge Blues Festival will be held in downtown Baton Rouge on April 14-15. Hours for this year's festival are noon to 10 p.m. both days. A full schedule will be released leading up to the event.
Though the event is free, VIP pre-sale tickets are also available for $200. VIP tickets include access to private viewing areas, gourmet food and snacks throughout the weekend, unlimited cocktails, beer, sodas and bottled water, private restrooms, and a one-year membership to the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation.

This is the 24th year of the event. In years past, the festival has attracted performers such as Charles Bradley, Buddy Guy, Dr. John and Bobby Rush.
