Red Stick Spice Company's hot teas are a hit — so much so that a new concept has been born.

The Mid City shop at 660 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge is now selling hot tea by the cup, from its in-house brand of loose teas called SoGo Tea. The line includes more than 60 hand-blended teas.

In addition to those teas, Red Stick Spice Company Anne Milneck owner said a SoGo Tea bar is in the works.

"Hopefully, soon SoGo will be a place," Milneck said in a press release. "We are in the very early stages of planning a barista-run tea bar called SoGo Tea.”

SoGo is a nod to the shop's Mid City home and means south of Government Street.

Until the shop is up and running, customers can order cups of SoGo tea at Red Stick Spice's tasting bar. Options include Southern Sunshine, Seize the Day, Clari-tea, and Fais Do Do. Local fruits and botanicals are used in the teas. A 12-ounce cup is $2.75.

Red Stick Spice Company's hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. For more information, visit
