WHAT I’M READING: “‘Life on the Line’ by Grant Acahtz and Nick Kokonas. It’s the story of chef Grant Achatz and his pursuit of creating the best restaurant in America. It also deals with his battle with tongue cancer and his decision of living without taste or living at all.”

WHAT I’M WATCHING: “Besides Food Network and ‘Top Chef,’ I just finished watching ‘Game of Thrones’ on HBO.”

WHERE I’M SURFING: “Cookingissues.com. It is written by chefs Dave Arnold and Nils Noren, who teach technology and modern cuisine at the French Culinary Institute in New York.”

WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE??“Wine. I travel to Napa every year with my wife, Michelle, and some close friends and we love to get together, drink wine and relive our trip.”


What are you most excited about in this year’s BR Epicurean Society’s Fête Rouge to be held Thursday and Friday?

“Having chef John Folse as the recipient of the Grace ‘Mama’ Marino Lifetime Achievement Award. John has been a friend and mentor for a long time, and I can’t think of anyone else who epitomizes the professionalism, passion and tenacity of a successful chef and restaurateur more than he does.”
