INSPIRE A CHILD TO LOVE MATH AND SCIENCE, StemUP Baton Rouge — Drew Henry, (225) 226-7936: The mission is to get STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) industry professionals to volunteer in local middle schools to lead hands-on projects and inspire kids to consider future STEM careers. Donations from Stuff the Bus help to ensure that students have supplies at the beginning of the school year. The event will take place at the Walmart on College Drive.

HOPE SHOPPING BUDDIES — Kelli Rogers, Volunteer@hopebr.org: Hope Ministries needs volunteers to serve as shopping companions for clients. Volunteers will make clients feel welcome and comfortable, assist them in choosing nutritious foods, and help load selections into clients’ vehicles when needed. Volunteers are needed from 8:45 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

VOLUNTEER WITH THE FOOD BANK, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank — Bonnie Bordelon, (225) 359-9940 ext. 207, email bonnie@brfoodbank.org: The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank feeds the hungry in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes by providing food and educational outreach. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

CAT ADOPTION COUNSELOR, Capital Area Animal Welfare Society — (225) 752-5801: Cat adoptions are held at Petco on Acadian and Perkins from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to one adoption day a month. Volunteers will transport animals, care for animals at the adoption event and help would-be adopters by providing an application, answering questions about the process. Training is provided.
