Kids, practice your lemon-squeezing.

Registration for the sixth annual Lemonade Day Louisiana has begun.

The free, communitywide program is open to Louisiana’s youth ages 4-18, and supports them in establishing and operating their own lemonade businesses.

More than 20,000 youth across the state are expected to participate in the program this year. On April 30, Lemonade Day, the community is encouraged to buy lemonade from one of the many participating stands. The young entrepreneurs are provided with a free backpack, which contains detailed support materials including an Entrepreneur Workbook to help them get their stand started.

“These entrepreneurs are advised to spend a little, save a little and share a little by donating a portion of their proceeds to a local charity of their choice. After covering their expenses and paying back their investors, children are encouraged to open a youth savings account, “ a news release says.

The more than 30 corporate Lemonade Day sponsors include Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, The Advocate Newspapers, CSRS Inc., Acadian Companies, Boysie Bollinger, LED, Mapp Construction and many other statewide corporate sponsors and partners.
