CASA VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION, Capital Area CASA Association — (225) 379-8598: Find out how you can become a voice for an abused or neglected child while he or she awaits a safe and permanent home during this 45-minute informational session. Volunteer orientation is 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday, May 14. Must be 21 or older.

GIRLS ON THE RUN 5K, Girls on the Run South Louisiana — (225) 636-0800: The Girls on the Run 5K on Saturday, May 14, is the culmination of spring programming where the girls and hundreds of other community participants are cheered across the finish line and congratulated for meeting their personal and physical goals. Volunteers are sought in the following areas: Inspiration Village pre-5K activities, registration and packet pickup, water stations, general setup, food distribution, cleanup, and more. Contact Must be 13 or older.

YOUTH PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS, The Salvation Army – (225) 367-6904: Work with the youth tutoring programs and school of performing art programs. Volunteers needed 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays; 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays; 3:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; and 3:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is a requirement of a background check . Must be 18 or older.

BRYC HOUSE SERVICE, Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC) — (225) 226-4700: Volunteer with BRYC to do community service at the BRYC house. Only for current Fellows. Must be 13 or older.
