Tell us about what you’re wearing.
“I’m wearing a BCBG Max Azria black and white striped blazer, a Max Azria ribbed knit maxi dress and a Max Azria knotted belt. And all my accessories are Max Azria — can you tell my favorite designer? Except for my memory ring necklace I made.”
So tell us about your necklace.
“It’s just all kinds of rings — high school, my grandparents’, my mom’s, my first promise ring, my graduation ring.”
What most influences your style?
“Comfort, my kids. I need my clothes to be functional but look presentable for work. I run around a lot.”
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve gotten?
“Be true to yourself. Don’t go for trends. Go with what works for your body and that you’re comfortable in. Don’t force a trend. They don’t work for everybody.”
What do you find yourself buying over and over?
“I wear a lot of ribbed knits. They’re comfortable.”
What’s your favorite trend?
“I like maxis and cropped jackets. I like tops with the cowl neck in the back instead of the front. I love a low back.”
What trend do you wish was over?
“I’m getting tired of seeing skinny denim. I think that’s best left for fall with boots. Oh, and velvet needs to die.”
Finish this sentence. I splurge on …
“Basics. Anything that you wear as an under piece.”
I skimp on …
“Top layers don’t have to be as good because I’ll only wear them five times in a season, if that.”
Name a celebrity whose closet you would like to raid.
“Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon. I also like Jessica Alba and Katherine Heigl. I like people who look like real people. Not people like Kim Kardashian and Fergie, who look like they’re wearing costumes.”
Make us laugh. What was your biggest fashion mistake?
“One day I wore a periwinkle knit drop-waist dress with white tights and a white long-sleeve undershirt. Those pieces are all cute, but, together, it just failed. It was terrible.”
