The 2015-16 Miss Southern University JaMya Magee and her court will reign over homecoming activities, “Welcome to Fabulous Southern University,” this week.
Magee, a 21-year-old senior sociology major from Bogalusa, will be officially coronated as the 85th Miss Southern University at her “Cirque De Southern: The Greatest Coronation On Earth,” ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Magee is a graduate of Bogalusa High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Beta club, student council and National Society of Black Engineers.
Besides taking on the roll of Miss Southern, Magee is also a member of Cox Community Outreach Program and Services.
After graduation, Magee plans to attend graduate school at Southern University of New Orleans to major in social work.
The members of Southern’s court are:
Miss Senior: Charon L. Johnson , 21, of Ethel, a mechanical engineering major. She is a graduate of East Feliciana High School.
Miss Junior: Corinne S. Vaughn , 20, of Campton, a political science major. She is a graduate of Lake View High School.
Miss Sophomore: Tiara A. Johnson , 19, of Baton Rouge, a biology major. She is a graduate of Baton Rouge Community College.
Miss Freshman: Micah Pegues, 18, of Beaumont, Texas, a business major. She is a graduate of Ozen High School.
Southern University’s homecoming parade will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Scenic Highway and Harding Boulevard.
