Burger Bash

Get a burger and all the fixin’s and help a good cause.

WHAT: The Big Buddy Program’s 23rd annual Burger Bash.

WHEN: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

WHERE: Catholic High School, 855 Hearthstone St. in Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: A $10 donation includes a meal with burger (and all the fixin’s), chips, ice cream and a soft drink. To-go orders can be placed and will be ready for pick-up beginning at 5:30 p.m. Burgers may be ordered in advance via the Big Buddy website at http://www.bigbuddyprogram.org or by calling or dropping by the Big Buddy Office, 1415 Main St. In addition, entertainment for the evening will be provided by enrichment programs for area schools. Funds raised support Little Buddies as they pursue post-high school educations.

Foundation lecture

Learn about self-taught primitive artist Clementine Hunter.

WHAT: Foundation for Historical Louisiana’s Heritage Lecture and book signing.

WHEN: 6 p.m., refreshments; 6:30 p.m., lecture.

WHERE: Old Governor’s Mansion, 502 North Blvd.

DETAILS: Tom Whitehead and Art Shriver, authors of a new book, “Clementine Hunter: Her Life and Art,” about the self-taught primitive artist, will lecture and sign their book. Admission is free to FHL members and $10 for guests. Refreshments, sponsored by Calandro’s Fine Cellars, will precede the talk.

‘The Art of Fine Dining’

It’s a unique combination of art and floral designs and place settings.

WHAT: Baton Rouge Garden Club and the Lousiana Art and Artists’ Guild’s “The Art of Fine Dining.”

WHEN: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

WHERE: Baton Rouge Garden Center, 7950 Independence Blvd.

DETAILS: The event will feature art exhibits by members of the Louisiana Art and Artists’ Guild which will be interpreted by garden club members in floral designs and place settings. Those who attend will vote for their favorite painting and design. Tickets are $5 at the door. Proceeds will fund scholarships to students in landscape architecture, urban forestry or horticulture. Some paintings are priced to sell. Refreshments will be served.
