Tiger fans will be glad to know that the Touchdown Express Shuttle is available again for this year’s football season. Concert @ fountain
Baton Rouge Community College opens its 2011-2012 Performing Arts season with the return of Jazz @ the Fountain at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
The free performance will take place at the fountain at the center of campus.
The concert, presented by BRCC’s Jazz Ensemble, will feature students and faculty from the college’s music program, including BRCC Associate Professor of Music Eric Baskin.
Free parking will be available at the North Parking Garage.

Auditions for Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker: A Tale From the Bayou will be held Sept. 17 and 18. More than 300 children will be selected to fill the roles of lambs, mice, cooks, cherubs, party children and more. Auditions will be held at The Dancers’ Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Court.

Sept. 11 exhibit
Don’t miss the current exhibit at the West Baton Rouge Museum in Port Allen. Cathartic Art: Remembering September 11th continues through Sept. 18, and features 46 art works created by artists who were moved by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

A Freedom Walk will take place at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the USS Kidd Veterans Memorial downtown. The America Supports You event encourages participants to reflect on the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and to honor all veterans past and present. To register, call (225) 291-7963. PetSmart Charities will host a national adoption weekend Friday-Sunday, Sept. 9-11, at the Airline Highway and Millerville Road PetSmart stores in Baton Rouge. Be sure to drop by if you can offer a loving home to an animal.
The annual Tigerama event will take place at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. LSU fans will be treated to performances by the LSU Tiger Band, Golden Girls and Color Guard, LSU Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds. The night also includes a VIP reception, and a silent auction.
