Lion Dance Baton Rouge for Red

The annual Lion Dance returns at 9 a.m. Sunday at Vinh Phat Market in Baton Rouge. The event features music and fireworks to ring in the Chinese Lunar New Year.



MARDI GRAS MAMBO: 7 a.m., North Boulevard Town Square, Baton Rouge. Mardi Gras may be over but the spirit of Carnival season is alive at this annual race. The event features a one-mile run at 8 a.m., and 10K and 15K at 8:30 a.m. as well as a post-race party with food and drink.

BLACK HISTORY PARADE: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Port Allen. Celebrating black history with friends and family, starting and William and Lee Park, 1631 Louisiana Ave. Food, drinks and live music starts immediately after the parade. 

ARTWALK: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., downtown Lafayette. Visit downtown restaurants and galleries during the monthly ArtWalk event, featuring local and regional artists showing off their latest works. Free.


LION DANCE: 9 a.m., Vinh Phat Market, 12351 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge. Annual party to ring in the Lunar New Year featuring dancing lions, drums and fireworks.

WHITE OAK PLANTATION BRIDAL SHOW: 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., White Oak Plantation, 17660 George O'Neal Road, Baton Rouge. Shop for all your wedding planning needs. $15 in advance on; $20 at the door. Advance ticket sales end at noon Friday. 

LUNAR NEW YEAR GALA: 6:30 p.m., University of Louisiana at Lafayette Angelle Hall Doucet-Gilfrey Auditorium, 601 E. St. Mary Blvd., Lafayette. Featuring music, dances and raffle drawings to celebrate the most important festival of the year in Asian culture. Free.


BLACK HISTORY MONTH: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Independence Park Theatre, 7800 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge. Annual ceremony bringing people together from across the parish to reflect on African-American contributions to East Baton Rouge parish and around the world.
