Marty J’s, a seafood restaurant owned and operated by former state senator and businessman Marty J. Chabert, has closed one of its locations.

Marty J’s at 4001 Nicholson Drive near the south gates of LSU's campus closed about three weeks ago, according to an employee.

Details on why the restaurant closed were not disclosed.

The Nicholson location was formerly Leroy’s Restaurant, which opened in 2013 and served fried chicken and beer milkshakes. Before Leroy’s, the barbecue restaurant Couyon’s had a short-lived location in the same spot.

The original Marty J’s location at 13434 Perkins Road remains open.

Marty J’s opened on Perkins Road in spring 2015. Shortly after opening, Marty J’s announced its second location at Nicholson Drive, which opened last summer.
