Chocolate, caramel, apples and ice cream can make any day better. Best of all, it doesn’t take long, even in the slow cooker. And desserts like this one can be especially tempting when they are warm and served over ice cream.
Cut apples into wedges, then cut each wedge in half before placing into slow cooker. You can cut the apples into smaller pieces, but if they are too small, they may cook too soon and become mushy.
Apples don’t necessarily need to be thoroughly cooked, just to the point where they aren’t extra crispy.
If you’re lucky enough to have any leftovers, just refrigerate, then reheat in the microwave. It will be just as good the next day, whether served over ice cream or over cake.
So, bring out the chocolate and the caramel. The caramel melts nicely in the slow cooker. After an hour, open the lid and stir. Replace the lid and continue to cook for an additional hour, and it’s done.
