The River Road Chapter of National Charity League is accepting applications for membership from girls entering seventh through 10th grades in the Baton Rouge area. Deadline to apply is Dec. 15.
The River Road Chapter of NCL has 221 members and provides hands-on volunteer service for a number of philanthropic organizations in the Baton Rouge community. Last year, the River Road Chapter contributed nearly 5,000 service hours to these charities.
Through this community service, the goal of NCL is to develop socially responsible community leaders and strengthen the mother-daughter relationship. The traditional NCL program also includes the development of leadership skills and cultural awareness. Nationally, the organization has more than 50,000 members in 196 chapters in 23 states.
Membership continues through the girls’ senior year of high school. Applicants must be sponsored by two current members of the River Road Chapter. Both mothers and daughters are required to perform a minimum number of service and league hours per year and pay annual dues.
