Tell us about what you’re wearing.
“I am wearing a cotton canvas sheath dress and matching jacket from the Worth Collection, NY, NY. I have had this suit ensemble for many years and continue to get compliments on it all the time, probably because of the simple lines and the ?to die for’ Popsicle orange color. I love to mix up the pieces and wear the bright jacket with solid white head to toe. Many people say that they cannot wear orange, but I find that orange is a very forgiving color.”
Who or what most influences your style?
“I am most influenced by my mother, Nita Gauthier, who taught me classic style and how to shop when I was a little girl. We used to haunt Goudchaux’s on Main Street and have been known to hit the Nieman Marcus ?Last Chance’ sale and really do some damage!”
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever gotten?
“If you don’t feel fabulous in it, then don’t buy it. Clothing should be a reflection of who we are on the inside. It is an opportunity to decorate our own personal canvas and show our individuality. I don’t think I learned this from any particular person...this has just become my fashion philosophy.”
What’s the most prominent color in your wardrobe?
“I would have to say black. My husband, Randy, really likes black on me and I like to keep him happy. I also find that black is one of the best neutral colors. One pop of color can really make a black canvas look chic.”
What item do you find yourself buying over and over again?
“Shoes. My Worth clothes will wear for years and years, but I can wear out a pair of shoes in one season. Plus there is nothing that I can’t stand more than worn-looking shoes. And I am terrible about putting my heel in a hole and tearing the back of my shoe. Ugh!”
What’s your favorite trend right now?
“I am not very trendy anymore. I used to be very daring and trendy when I was younger, but now I just appreciate classic, beautiful clothing and accessories. That’s why I chose Worth over many other clothing lines...the quality of taped seams, attention to detail and timeless construction is true luxury.”
What trend do you wish was over?
“Uggs...I haven’t seen any in a while, but I just can’t understand how anyone can think those things look good.?I also can’t stand bra straps showing.”
Finish this sentence. I splurge on...
“My Worth clothes and antique jewelry.”
I skimp on...
“Everyday shoes...those staples that we tend to throw on when running errands. Now I am not saying that my everyday shoes aren’t cute, I just don’t pay a fortune for shoes since I wear them so hard. I do have my fabulous pairs that I save for parties, luncheons, etc.”
What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?
“Sunscreen. I put SPF 50 on my face every day. And I exfoliate day and night with those Roc Resurfacing Pads.”
Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet. What would it be??
“My largest suitcase filled with as many pieces of Worth as possible.”
Make us laugh. What was your biggest fashion mistake??
“According to my daughter, Melinda, who is 12, I am making them all the time. When she sees me get dressed she usually says, ?Mom, you’re wearing that?’ Nike shorts and a T-shirt are her main fashion statement.”
