Rotolo’s Pizzeria’s Slidell location will be featured on the Friday, June 26, episode of “Flip My Food” with Chef Jeff Henderson.
(Show will air on WVUE in New Orleans at 10:30 a.m. and WAFB in Baton Rouge at 9 a.m.)
In the show, founder Mitch Rotolo shows Henderson how to create The Krewe pizza and Parma Rosa pasta, which includes a creamy, tomato-y blend of sauces over fresh penne pasta. Henderson then creates his own interpretations of the recipes using fresh ingredients from the Rotolo’s kitchen.
“It was great fun for me to show Chef Jeff one of our kitchens, including all the great fresh ingredients we’re known for at Rotolo’s,” Rotolo said. “I loved sharing our delicious pizza and pasta dishes and tasting his takes on them — though I will say I thought ours were the best!”
Henderson, author of the memoir “Cooked” and host of the Food Network show “The Chef Jeff Project,” is a former prison inmate who later became head chef at Las Vegas landmarks like the Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace, a news release said. “Flip My Food,” which airs on 55 stations, follows Henderson around the country as he learns new recipes and then flips those to create a new dish inspired by the original.
Rotolo’s Pizzeria started in Baton Rouge in 1996 and has since expanded to 36 locations across Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Florida.
