    • DETAILS: Youngsters can get in the spirit of the holidays and increase their reading skills as they enjoy a book reading and related crafts at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden. All children participating in the program must be accompanied by a parent, but the event is free. There will be a family-friendly reading of “Oh, What a Christmas!” by Michael Garland. Children also will be able to participate in imagination-themed activities related to the book and holiday season.

    • DETAILS: More than just a fun afternoon filled with activities and entertainment, it is also a fundraiser that supports patient and family programs at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Activities include a tea, story time, photos with Santa, face painting, silent auction, cookie decorating, a reading by WAFB-TV’s Lauren Westbrook and live holiday music and dancing.

The raffle is a partnership with the Capital Region Builders Foundation. Early bird drawing for a $1,000 cash prize will be held on Dec. 16.
