Check out the menu: ‘Food Network Star’ finalist Jay Ducote brings ‘Too Many Cooks’ pop-up dinner to Tin Roof tap room _lowres

Advocate staff photo by PATRICK DENNIS -- Radio host and food blogger Jay Ducote thanks his friends and fans for coming out to the Varsity Theater airing of the Food Network Star finale Sunday night. Ducote will host a pop-up dinner at Tin Roof's tap room in September.

Hot off his appearance on “Food Network Star,” Baton Rouge’s Jay Ducote will team up with a fellow competitor from that show and another local food reality show cook for a September pop-up dinner.

Ducote, Rue Risike of “Food Network Star” and Jesse Romero of “MasterChef” will prepare a three-course meal at Tin Roof’s tap room at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The event is called “Too Many Cooks,” after the surreal, yet hilarious Adult Swim special that aired last year. Tickets are $15 and available at toomanycooks.eventbrite.com.

The menu for the three course meal is as follows.

Ducote will prepare a cast iron cauldron of red beans with smoked andouille and Cajun Country Rice.

Rusike will prepare Zimbabwean inspired oxtail and okra stew with sadza.

Romero will prepare jalapeno honey glazed chicken thighs with rosemary and sage-roasted fingerling potatoes.

Ducote went far in this past season of “Food Network Star,” though lost to Texan Eddie Jackson in the finale. Rusike was eliminated in episode five.

Though Romero made an impressive showing early on in “MasterChef,” he was eliminated June 24.
