While the Red Stick Farmers Market held on Saturday mornings in downtown Baton Rouge will continue to operate on its regular schedule, other market locations have changes in their schedules, a spokeswoman said.
Dec. 18 is the last Thursday market until Jan. 15, spokeswoman Darlene Adams Rowland said. That market is held from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursdays behind Pennington Biomedical Research Center, 6400 Perkins Road.
The Tuesday market has closed for the winter season, and this is the last week for the winter season of the Red Stick Mobile Farmers Market, Rowland said. The mobile market will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Charles R. Kelly Community Center (Delmont), 3535 Riley St., and from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dr. Leo S. Butler Community Center, 950 E. Washington St.
On Saturday, the farmers market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon at Fifth and Main streets. Its 10 a.m. “Fresh from the Market” cooking demonstration inside Main Street market will feature Galatoire’s Bistro Executive Chef Kelley McCann preparing a locally inspired seasonal dish with samples for the crowd.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The Saturday market operates rain or shine. If raining, the farmers market is inside the Galvez Garage.
