The Krewe of Cypress welcomed members and guests to a New Orleans-style Mardi Gras parade on Jan. 31 at the Carl Grant Civic Center.

Reigning over the festivities were King Cypress XXXVI Matthew Mechana and Queen Cypress XXXVI Kristin Adele Lestage, daughter of the king and Pam G. Mechana and Henry Oscar Lestage IV.

Ball captains were Jerry and Amy Bradford and Ann Jillian Wilbert.

First to enter were the Duke and Maid of Bacchus, Kynan White and Courtney Paige Burruss, daughter of Beryl Laurent Burruss and Robert J. Burruss.

Bob Murthy and Lacey Renee Barker, daughter of Walter M. and Lynette Barker, portrayed a duke and maid from Cleopatra.

Cameron Moore and Alexandra Nicole Gautreaux, daughter of Craig and Niki Gautreaux, were presented as the duke and maid from Proteus.

Comus was represented by Logan Doré and Kaitlyn Anna Daniels, daughter of Arthur and Jennifer Daniels.

Scott Gaudin and Elizabeth Faith Fitzgerald, daughter of Army Spc. Brian Fitzgerald and Gidget Ann Thomas, portrayed Orpheus. The duke and maid of Sparta were Brian Deselles and Gabrielle Tyla LoBue, daughter of Tyla Wood LoBue and Shane LoBue. Entertainment during the tableau was provided by the Children of the Krewe and the Gentlemen of the Krewe.

Following the tableau, members and guests danced to the music of Fountain City Players.
