It’s New Year’s Eve and you need something delicious and splashy to serve at a party. The problem is time!

Here are three quick treats that fit the bill and, best of all, can be ready in a couple of hours. You probably have the majority of the ingredients in the pantry.

The secret is showing the treat off in something appealing — and that should be glitzy for New Year’s. Look around the house; serve in something unexpected.

I happened to have a small container of edible gold-luster dust I bought at Party Time for a cake decorating class. Since then, I have used that gold dust to glamorize cakes, cookies and, in this case, fudge.

I made a quick batch of Baker’s Chocolate Fudge. I think that original recipe was on the box of Baker’s chocolate. After it cooled, I cut it and brushed a smear of gold dust on the top and it indeed looked fancy.

Another easy party idea is to take a block of cream cheese and top it with jelly that has horseradish added to it. Use any jelly (strawberry, peach, mayhaw) you have on hand. Put crackers around it and you have a favorite, and no one has any idea how simple that was to put together.
