Louisiana Miss Amazing, Inc. will hold its first pageant Friday and Saturday at Theatre Baton Rouge, 7155 Florida Blvd.

Miss Amazing Inc., a nonprofit organization, seeks to provide opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to build self-confidence through the skills learned in pageantry.

Participants, who must be ages 5 and older, will show their abilities in their evening gown on stage, in an interview with judges, and as they introduce themselves to the audience. All participants are awarded with a crown and trophy, and one person from each age group is selected to represent her peers throughout the year.

Entry fee for participants is five cans or boxes of food, which will be donated to local food pantries by the five 2016 Louisiana Miss Amazing representatives. These representatives will also represent the state at the National Miss Amazing event this summer in Chicago.

The pageant’s first segment, a talent showcase, starts at 6 p.m. on Friday. Donation is $5 per person. The final show takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online through EventBrite.com or at the door.
