The Taste event will feature chef cook-off

More than 25 local restaurants and caterers will participate in The Taste, a culinary event benefitting Mary Bird Perkins - Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. April 23 at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge.

The event this year will feature a celebrity chef cook-off. Three chefs — John Folse of Restaurant R’evolution in New Orleans, Gino Sclafani of Ruffino’s Italian Restaurant in Baton Rouge, and Cody Carroll of Hot Tails Restaurant in New Roads and the new seafood restaurant Sac-a-Lait, in New Orleans — will each team with a Cancer Center supporter to prepare a dish using a secret ingredient within 30 minutes. The dishes will be judged on presentation, taste and originality.

The 2015 Passport to Paris raffle tickets are on sale through April 22 for $50 each. The drawing will be held at The Taste 2015 but the winner need not be present to win.

To purchase tickets, visit or call (225) 215-1224.

Tickets for The Taste, which includes tastings and cocktails, are $100 each; $175 per couple; or $1,250 for a 10-ticket package that includes 10 event tickets and 10 raffle tickets.

For tickets, go to or call (225) 215-1224.
