MORGAN CITY — Kenneth C. Cefalu and Abigail Kay Conrad, daughter of Elwood and Frances Stevens and Daniel and Rebecca Conrad, reigned as King and Queen Hephaestus LIII over the royal court of one of Morgan City’s oldest krewes Feb. 9 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.

Cefalu, a Morgan City native, is chief financial officer of Allison Marine Holdings LLC of Lafayette and Morgan City. A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Nicholls State University Graduate School in Thibodaux, he is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard and has been a member of many groups including the Morgan City Rotary Club and the St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce.

He is married to the former Anna Carriere, of Morgan City, and is the father of four daughters. He has two grandchildren.

The reigning queen, a native of Morgan City, attends Nicholls State University, where she is majoring in marketing. Her Mardi Gras history includes serving as captain and queen of the children’s Krewe of Nike, and a page and maid in the Krewe of Hephaestus.

She is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, where she was a cheerleader, member of the Homecoming court and Student Council, and prom queen. She is the granddaughter of Johnny and Mary Lou Conrad, and the great-granddaughter of Parker Conrad.

Serving as captain of the krewe was Derald Hardaway. Carrying out the theme of “Hephaestus Climbs the Summits of the World,” he depicted the Abominable Snow Man.

Maids and dukes represented various summits of the world. They were Tyler Hernandez and Caroline Byrne, daughter of Gerard and Gerrie Byrne, representing the Himalayas; Patrick Hernandez and Alana Conrad, daughter of Glen and Kim Conrad, the Rockies; Dr. Eric Melancon and Abbie Bergeron, daughter of Daniel and JoAnn Bergeron, the Urals; Joe Montgomery and Samantha Napoli, daughter of Bill and Karen Marin and Sam Napoli, the Alps; Max Nelkin and Caroline Adams, daughter of Ben and Dawn Adams, the Andes; and Grant Dozar and Elizabeth Hover, daughter of John and Tracie Hover, Kilimanjaro.

Pages to his majesty were William Mahfouz, son of Mark and Andrea Mahfouz; Avery Price, son of Jeffrey and Dr. Julie Price, and Joseph Landry, son of Matthew and Jacklyn Landry.

Pages to her majesty were Julia Mahfouz, daughter of Mark and Andrea Mahfouz; Isabella Pecoraro, daughter of Ryan and Elena Pecoraro, and Victoria Kirkpatrick, daughter of Todd and Amy Kirkpatrick.

Court heralds were Jackman Lind, son of Erik and Stephanie Lind, and Kyle Stansbury, son of James and Tiffany Stansbury. Gift bearers were William Mahfouz, son of Mark and Andrea Mahfouz, and Sophie Webster, daughter of Darrell and Valerie Webster.

Knights of Hephaestus were Duane Aucoin, Kenneth Conrad, Michael Wise and Gregory Hamer Jr.

Entertainment for the court was provided by Dominique’s School of Dance. The ball was followed by a breakfast.
