The weekend of Sept. 30 has some exciting events coming to Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. From Top 40 music-makers to hilarious comedians to rowdy wrestlers, here are five events that offer some of the most unique and enjoyable entertainment in the area.

Miranda Lambert

Grammy Award winner Miranda Lambert comes to the Baton Rouge River Center this Friday, Sept. 30. With well-known hits like “Kerosene,” and “Heart Like Mine,” this female country star knows how to entertain an audience. She has had numerous Top 40 hits and has even topped the charts for several weeks in a row.

Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival

Be a part of this year’s Manhattan Short Film Festival and get the chance to vote on finalists from around the world--including two films from the United States. The Manship Theatre will host this event, which is also showing in 200 cities on six continents.

Over the past ten years, six films from Manhattan Short have been nominated for Oscars. Take this amazing opportunity to see the next generation of filmmakers.

Comedian Carrey B.

New Orleans’ comic Carrey B. heads to the Funny Bone Comedy Club this weekend to share some laughter and funny life experiences. His jokes about his childhood and his travels will have the audience laughing hysterically.

Carrey B. has opened for well-known comedians such as Sinbad, Eddie Griffin and Cedric the Entertainer. He has also made appearances in several movies including “Wonderful World,” which stars Matthew Broderick.

Yeah, You Right

Local cover band Yeah, You Right will be performing at the Roux House this Saturday, Oct. 1. Covering songs by 50 Cent, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West and Vanilla Ice, this group will definitely entertain audiences. They also take requests via email at, so everyone can hear their favorite song.

WWE: Hell in a Cell

Take the short trip to New Orleans this Sunday, Oct. 2, to catch the live WWE event, Hell in a Cell. Watch Randy Orton and Mark Henry compete for the World Heavyweight Title. Also, for the first time in WWE history, three wrestlers will enter the cell to compete for the WWE Championship belt. In this Triple Threat Match, John Cena will defend his title against CM Punk and Alberto del Rio.
