The Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Federation will award $70,000 in scholarships to 33 students at the 2015 LRAEF Five Star Futures Gala on Aug. 8 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

Receiving the LRAEF/NRAEF ProStart Scholarship, presented to students who have or will have the National ProStart Certificate of Achievement, are:

  • Liana Aucoin, graduate of Slidell High School, attending the Louisiana Culinary Institute, second-year recipient.
  • Colin Berthelot, graduate of Lutcher High School, attending the Louisiana Culinary Institute.
  • Victoria Cart, graduate of Sulphur High School, attending the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University, fourth-year recipient.
  • Lauren Fendlason, graduate of Hammond High Magnet School, attending the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University, third-year recipient.
  • Jessica Foret, graduate of Grace King High School, attending Delgado Community College, second-year recipient.
  • Savannah Hall, graduate of Ponchatoula High School, attending the Louisiana Culinary Institute.

Receiving the LRA Culinary and Hospitality Leadership Scholarship, presented to students who are enrolled in or been accepted to a hospitality or culinary degree program, are:

  • Veronica Bruno, graduate of Mount Carmel Academy, attending the University of New Orleans.

Brice Davis, graduate of St. Scholastica Academy, attending the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University.

Receiving the LRA Cenla Chapter Scholarship, provided to students living in central Louisiana who pursue a career in the culinary or hospitality industry, are:

  • Sara Howard, graduate of Oak Hill High School, attending the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University.
  • Bianca Jones, graduate of Natchitoches Central High School, attending Louisiana State University.

The Louisiana Seafood Scholarship, awarded to a student who shows an interest in cultivating, protecting and promoting Louisiana seafood, will be given to Rachel DeFelice, a graduate of Grace King High School. She will attend the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University.

The most prestigious award the LRAEF awards is the Jim Funk Scholarship, named for former LRA President & CEO Jim Funk. Kerry Ford, a graduate of Destrehan High School/St. Charles Satellite Center, will be attending the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University.

Judy Achary, of Lakeshore High School, will be honored as ProStart Educator of the Year.
