WHAT I’M WATCHING: “I’m a sucker for every comic book movie and animated feature that comes out, and this summer has been just awesome!?At home, I tend to check the Palladia channel first for good, live music; then I make my way through the Discovery, History, Science and SyFy channels to see what’s on.?More often than not I’ll settle in on Food Network or a home improvement show.”
WHERE I’M SURFING (ON THE INTERNET): “This time of year I spend considerable time at the National Hurricane Center - http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/.”
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE??“TastyKakes! If you’re not from Baltimore, like I am, or from Philly, like my wife, Kathy, is, you just don’t know what you’re missing! We stock up whenever we’re there.”
You’ve been playing rock ’n’ roll in Baton Rouge for 35 years now, 25 of them at Eagle 98.1. What’s your favorite story from radio days?
“Way back in ’86, I was the operations manager of a short-lived Big Band station here in Baton Rouge called WXAM, and we were sponsoring a concert by the Buddy Rich band.?Being a drummer myself, Rich was an idol of mine. I was to emcee the event and introduce the band.?I walked on stage, and there he was ... with his whole 16-piece band.?I stepped to the mic and said, ‘Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!’ As I did so, Rich started a riff on his hi-hats.?All I could think was, ‘Holy cow, Buddy Rich is playing under my introduction!’ I was on Cloud Nine the rest of the evening.”
