BUILD A STRONG READER, Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) — Hope Dawan, (225) 226-4702 or VIPS seeks volunteers for Building Blocks, a program dedicated to helping pre-K students build strong reading skills. Pre-K Reading Friends introduce students to advanced language, allow a student to hear and retell stories and build a lifetime of reading pleasure. Reading Friends are recruited, trained and screened by VIPS. Volunteers are matched one-on-one with a pre-K student at Delmont Pre-K/K Center and visit for 30-45 minutes once per week.

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY, Together Baton Rouge and The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Mobile Food Pantries — Edgar Cage, Together Baton Rouge in conjunction with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank need volunteers to help with their Mobile Pantries. BIG BUDDY MENTORSHIP, Big Buddy Program — Laurie Hardison, (225) 388-9737 or visit The Big Buddy Program sets up programs that follow children from elementary school all the way through college, and volunteers are a vital to their success. Volunteers can work with youth during after school/summer programs or with the staff at various agency events. Volunteer opportunities can also include becoming a one-to-one mentor for youth in the program.
