Baton Rouge competitive eater Adrian Morgan downed 32 dozen oysters in eight minutes, finishing third in the 2011 World Oyster Eating Championship in New Orleans June 5.

Morgan was bested by second-place finisher Aaron Osthoff, of Iowa, with 38 dozen. Taking first was Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, of Chicago, who slurped down 39 dozen and set a world record.

Bertoletti was considered the one to beat in the competition, as he is the second-ranked competitive eater in the world.

The contest, part of the New Orleans Oyster Festival and sanctioned by Major League Eating, was presented by Acme Oyster House.
