Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre will welcome Nashville Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey San Antonio dance companies in January and February to audition dancers for highly respected 2013 summer intensive programs.
Summer intensives provide extraordinary opportunities to study under the supervision of some of the most elite dance instructors in the country and explore dance in a fresh perspective, according to BRBT.
The audition dates:
- Nashville Ballet, Saturday.
- American Ballet Theatre, Jan. 27.
- Joffrey San Antonio, Feb. 2.
All auditions are open and will be held at Dancers’ Workshop, 10745 Linkwood Court in Baton Rouge.
Audition applicants must pay a registration fee and submit a photograph showing first arabesque in center in order to register. Each company has a specific set of dance level requirements.
Applications due by Jan. 25
Middle and high school students should apply by Jan. 25 for half-day and after-school arts training as well as full-day arts and academic instruction at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
Programs are available in creative writing, culinary arts, dance, filmmaking and audio production, classical instrumental music, jazz instrumental music, vocal music, drama, musical theater, theater design and visual arts.

Honesty, Integrity awards
The Blazing Star Masonic Lodge No. 212 in Port Allen has awarded Honesty and Integrity awards to high school students Bliss Hardy and Lindsey Mcelhatten.
Hardy, 18, daughter of Shane and Melissa Hebert, of Plaquemine, is a home-schooled senior.
Mcelhatten, 18, daughter of Jason and Kim Mcelhatten, is a senior at Port Allen High.
Choir awards scholarship
Chevon Allen, 18, of Gonzales, last month was awarded a $500 scholarship by the West Baton Rouge Parish Mass Choir.
She is the daughter of the Rev. Raymond and Cheryl Allen, a 2012 graduate of East Ascension High School and a freshman at Southern University in Baton Rouge.
The choir of singers from East and West Baton Rouge churches presented the scholarship during its Christmas concert at Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Allen.
