If you’re looking for a VIP experience, a couple of Baton Rouge businessmen might have the experience for you.

Andrew Bayard, Chrisian Walter and councilman John Delgado, the guys behind Capital City bars such as Huey’s, The Draft House and Brickyard South, are opening their new downtown bar, 1913, this weekend.

The bar will host its grand opening event at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The event will feature music from DJs Triz-A and Cool Hand. For reservations and VIP information, call (225) 572-2677.

The bar is located at 336 Third St., in the old historic Louisiana Theater Building. It’s named after the year the building first opened. Bayard said the two-story bar offers basic drinks downstairs and a small, high-end cocktail list with bottle service upstairs.

Already, the bar features nine different areas offering a VIP experience. Bayard said two more are in the works.

Among the offerings for the new bar are elaborate lighting productions, renovated dance floors and touring DJs to give Baton Rougeans a true nightclub experience, Bayard said.

“This is something that hasn’t been done before here,” he said. “We are trying to take Baton Rouge nightlife up to the next level.”

More than $1 million went into renovating the space. Along with work on three walls and a roof that was falling in, Bayard and his team upgraded the space with new plumbing and electrical work as well as granite counter tops, renovated walls and new carpeting. The second floor offers a balcony, overlooking the first floor.

“We’re going for a super VIP-level experience,” he said. “It’s something to be seen.”

At first, the bar will be open 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as for reservations. Bayard said those who don’t want to stand in line can check in at Huey’s before 1913 opens.

Those interested in renting out the bar can call (225) 572-2677. 1913 will also offer a car service and limos. In the future, Bayard said the bar could expand its hours and bring more nationally touring DJs on Thursdays.
