The deadline for chef applications for the second annual Farm to Table Chefs Taste Challenge has been extended to Friday.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Farm to Table Experience taking place Aug. 18-20 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Ten chefs from across the U.S. will be selected to create the best dish that utilizes farm-fresh items from a pantry of seasonal ingredients donated by State Agricultural Departments.

Participating chefs’ dishes will be judged by a panel of industry-renowned judges, including representatives from the James Beard Foundation and Centerplate, along with some of the nation’s top chefs. The top two winning dishes will receive the Gold and Silver Chefs Taste Challenge awards.

A “People’s Choice” award will also be presented based on voting from dinner attendees. All 10 chefs will receive national recognition for their participation.
