SAINTSATIONS CHOSEN: Two area women have been selected for the Saintsations, the New Orleans Saints’ sideline dance team.

Jamie Steele and Harmony Thibodeaux will be part of the 32-member team.

Steele, a graduate of Harmony High School in Gilmer, Texas, is a senior at LSU pursuing her bachelor’s degree in child and family studies. She plans on using the degree to become a school counselor. She recently married Brian Steele, of Prairieville. This is her first year on the team. Steele is the daughter of James Putt and Jackie Suiter.

Thibodeaux, daughter of Essie Thibodeaux and Dr. Lionel D. Lyles, is a graduate of Cecilia High School and received her B.S in psychology from LSU and her M.S. in clinical psychology from Pennsylvania State University.

She is working as a career counselor and adjunct faculty instructor at South Louisiana Community College. This is her first year on the team.

LOCALLY BRED HORSE WINS AQHA TITLE: The 2006 bay American Quarter Horse mare, Bewitching Cool Kid, earned the world championship in aged mares on Sept. 1 at the 2011 Adequan Select AQHA World Championship Show in Amarillo, Texas. Bewitching Cool Guy was bred by Hilda Granier, of Baton Rouge.

Bewitching Cool Kid was shown by Bobbie Arnold Atkinson, of Henderson, Texas. The mare is sired by CK Kid and out of RS Truly Cool.

The Adequan Select World Show is the world’s largest, single-breed world championship horse show open exclusively to amateur exhibitors age 50 and older.


HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL: The Holy Family School Home and School Association in Port Allen will hold a celebration of 62 years of Catholic education on Saturday. All alumni, parents and grandparents of alumni, and former and current HFS staff are invited to the 4 p.m. Mass, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
