Tréo bartender Tyler Chauvin took the top prize in the recent Louisiana Sisters Cocktail Competition with her original craft cocktail, Hot Honey in the City.
She was one of nine New Orleans bartenders challenged to create cocktails inspired by Louisiana Sisters spiced gourmet foods at the event at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. In addition to using at least one of the three Louisiana Sisters products, which include an all-natural Bloody Mary mix, spiced olives and a pepper jelly, the bartenders were to use a spirit of their choice provided by Donner-Peltier Distillers and Cathead Vodka.
The public’s vote on its favorite cocktail counted toward the win, and a panel of local celebrity judges determined the winner based on the criteria of smell, taste, appeal and presentation.
Other competitors in the March 4 event were Abigail Gullo, of SoBou; Amber Peterson; Andrea Heming, Purloo; Crystal Pavlas, St. Lawrence; Michael Oatis, The Puccini Bar (Four Points by Sheraton); Salvatore Agnello, Bellocq; Scot Mattox, El Guapo; and Wyatt Lowery, Booty’s Street Food. Lowrey placed second and Agnello was third.
